Modern chiropractic in Bellevue has evolved to include many different styles of natural health care and there is a type of chiropractic that is perfect for everyone. So how do you choose the right one for you?

This philosophy of chiropractic is one of removing stress from the nervous system to allow the body’s own natural healing is common to all forms of chiropractic. But the approach to this can vary widely by which practitioner you choose.

Chiropractic focuses on the following three elements.

Chemical: The biochemical actions of life.

Structural: The bones and tissues of the body.

Emotional

Chiropractic techniques can be divided into groups according to which of the above levels they work on. The first (and largest) group are the techniques that are just focused on the structural in other words realigning the body and the spine to allow to help the nervous system function properly.

This an important part of health no matter what specific problem you may be concerned with.

Chiropractors in this group can be broken up into people who adjust the spine by hand; and activator adjusters or people who use a small, low-force mechanical instrument to adjust the spine. This is a very gentle way of treating the spine, and is especially appropriate for elderly or very young people. Discuss with your chiropractor how they work and why they recommend the method they plan to use for you. Remember that it is your body and your health and you should be comfortable and feel that you have good communication with your chiropractor.

A “straight” or primarily structural chiropractor would be best for you if your problem is purely mechanical, like a sports injury, accident or repetitive strain injury.

Techniques that also work on the biochemical level include Applied Kinesiology (AK) and similar methods. These systems use muscle testing to determine if stresses such as food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, toxicity and hormonal imbalances exist.

These types of chiropractors are usually considered if the issue is chronic or involves multiple health challenges. These techniques can succeed where other methods do not. But it is important to  be aware of the limitations of such methods.

Chiropractic techniques that work on the emotional level include Neuro

Emotional Technique (NET) and LifeLine Technique.

Typically most patients concerned with back pain or other pain issues get relief when focusing on structural concerns.

It is thought that all health problems originate from imbalance in one of the three areas above.
